Located within Palazzo Antici Mattei, one of Rome's most distinguished Renaissance residences, the Center for American Studies has long been recognised as one of Europe's leading institutions dedicated to the study of the United States and the promotion of cultural dialogue between Italy and America.
As part of the renovation of its principal conference hall, FORMITALIA Group contributed to the project with a bespoke configuration of the iconic Bel Air meeting table, carefully integrated into one of the palace's most historically significant interiors. Surrounded by frescoed ceilings, sculptural decorations and remarkable architectural details, the table establishes a refined dialogue between contemporary design and Renaissance heritage.
Originally conceived for executive and institutional environments, the Bel Air meeting table has become one of FORMITALIA Group's most recognisable designs. Its balanced proportions, understated elegance and architectural presence make it particularly suited to prestigious settings where functionality and representation must coexist.
Today, the conference hall continues to host lectures, diplomatic meetings, academic discussions and international conferences, providing a space where culture, research and institutional dialogue come together. Within this historic context, the intervention demonstrates FORMITALIA Group's ability to integrate contemporary furnishings into architecturally significant environments with sensitivity, precision and respect for their cultural identity.
The project reflects the company's expertise in creating bespoke solutions for institutional spaces, where timeless Italian craftsmanship contributes to preserving the character of historic architecture while supporting the needs of contemporary public life.
